So does painting make you nervous...
it definitely makes me a little scared! I've been wanting to paint my built-ins since last year but have been too wishy-washy about making a decision. Just thinking about choosing a color can be hard, not to mention if it is going to be too trendy, dark, light, or wrong for my home decor, especially when now it seems like the color selections are endless.
It's no easy task to find the right paint color, and no color will look exactly the same in every home when finding inspiration from Pinterest. However, if you are thinking of adding a little color to your home, I hope this post will give you inspiration and a step in the right direction.
Favorite White Paint Colors
Before we moved into our house, we lived in a 900 square foot home with only one bathroom. We lived there for 6 years....four people! To say it's was a little tight is definitely an understatement!
Therefore, when it came time to choose paint colors, I decided that most of the house was going to be white. I needed a clean and open space. After much research, I found that most of the homes I loved used Benjamin Moore's White Dove. So that's what I chose! And, we got the discounted price because I used White Dove for almost everything, including the exterior and interior of our home.

Here are a few other options that I think make the perfect white...not too bright and not too dark.

Now that we have been in our house for several years, I'm ready to start dipping my toe into a little color. I'm going to mix it up with dark hues of blue and grey/black. Here are a few of my favorite blue paint colors.
Here are a few images I found on Google, with these colors. I'm wanting to paint my powder room and utility room Indigo Batik. Now, I just need the courage!

According to Houzz.com, green is about to be seen — everywhere. Most paint brands picked a neutral green as the color they think will define 2022.
Here are a few of my top favorite green colors.

Favorite Black Paint Colors
Need a little drama in your home? Then let's go with black! You might think black is too bold, but honestly, when done correctly, it can look extremely stylish. Black paint is timeless and goes with any decor style. You don't have to jump off and paint your walls black, but experimenting with cabinets, islands, interior doors, or built-ins is a good way to add a few bold elements to your decor.

As For Other Colors...
You can go to any Sherwin Williams Paint Store and purchase a ColorSnap Fan Deck for $15. When you return the deck you will receive your money back. The fan deck has been a great help for me when I was looking at paint samples, and I think it would be a good resource for you too if you are thinking about painting soon.
Well, this post has put a fire in me, and I'm now ready to tackle my utility room. I'm ready to bring blue into the house. Can't wait to show you soon!
If you use any of these color or do any painting of your own, I would love to see. Please send me a picture on Instagram @theoldrivernest or attach in the comments on the blog.
Happy Painting,
amber :)
