Granny's Brownie Recipe

I think it's been about 10 years now since I have baked brownies from a box. Below is a note from my Granny sharing this brownie recipe with me a long, long time ago. You can see the grease marks from how many times I have used it. Since the first time baking this recipe, I haven't looked back! These brownies seriously are delicious, and it's the only way I bake them now.

BUT...what really makes these brownies so incredibly special is that I think of my Granny every time I bake them, and now, you will too! :)

Let's get started!

Granny's Brownie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup of vegetable oil

2 cups of sugar

2 tsp of vanilla

4 eggs

1 cup of unsifted flour (all purpose)

2/3 cup of Hershey's Cocoa

1/2 tsp of baking powder

1/2 tsp of salt

1/2 to 3/4 cup of nuts, chocolate chips, and/or peanut butter chips if you like.

**I usually use a 8 x 10 brownie pan**

Step One: Preheat Oven and Wet Ingredients

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Blend oil, sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Add eggs; beat well with a spoon.

I usually add the vanilla at the very end.

Step Two: Dry Ingredients

Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to egg mixture until well blended.

Step Three: Pour batter into a pan.

WAIT...not all the batter! Leave a TON of mix so you can lick the bowl! This mix is delicious, and of course, my favorite part of baking brownies!

Step Four: Bake

Bake at 350 for 25 - 30 minutes if you like your brownies gooey. If you are more of a cake brownie person, I would say between 35 - 45 minutes but definitely check every 5 minutes starting at 30 minutes. I prefer my brownies almost raw so I have never really tried to bake cake brownies.

Yum, Yum, Yum!

Step Five: Don't Touch

This is the hardest part! Let the brownies set between 30 minutes to an hour before cutting if you like your brownies really gooey....this gives them a chance to set.

If you can't wait...then grab some Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Cut brownies and put the ice cream on top. Your life will be changed! And...ps....vanilla ice cream with brownies is my favorite dessert! :)

We hope you get a chance to bake these delicious brownies during Halloween. We promise it will become a treasured family treat!
